Subsets

On 20 May 2008 significant changes were made to subset production and distribution on the Rapid Response System. In order to expand coverage with existing resources, a new strategy was developed that dynamically generates image subsets in the Plate Carre projection as needed from a new standardized image base. Because the system is generating the image file on the fly, the images may take longer to load.

The dynamic generation also means that subsets can no longer be accessed directly as static files on disk, but must be accessed by using URL arguments. This means that you will need to update your bookmarks as follows:

NEW: http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/subsets/?subset=SubsetName.2008141.terra.1km

Known issues:
1) Fire outline vectors in 500m and 250m images are sometimes missing pixels
2) The list of L2 granules is incorrect for some high latitude subsets

This page contains a number of image subsets that are automatically generated in near-real-time for various applications users. Most subsets are available as true-color images. Some additional band combinations may be be available for specific applications. Geographic areas can be selected from the maps or from the list below. For each geographic area the archive imagery is available online.
